Policy Statement

Hattrell Architects recognises its responsibility to carry out procurement activities in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.

In accordance with our Environmental Policy, we will look to incorporate environmental and social considerations into our procedures for product and services selection.

We recognise that it is our responsibility to encourage our suppliers and contractors to minimise negative environmental and social effects associated with the products and services they provide. We will also strive to ensure that local and smaller suppliers are not discriminated against in our procurement process and specifications.

Specific action may encompass the following:

  • Encourage Partners and Staff to review their individual consumption of goods and services in order to reduce usage where possible and develop business cases based on sustainable principles
  • Give preference to products and services that can be manufactured, used, and disposed of in an environmentally and socially responsible manner
  • Ensure that sustainability criteria are included in the specification to suppliers
  • Ensure that sustainability criteria are used in the award of contracts
  • Consider whole life costs when assessing product suitability
  • Ensure that suppliers’ environmental credentials are considered in the appraisal process.
  • Ensure non-discrimination against local and smaller suppliers.

The principles of our procurement policy will be applied to the products and services we purchase or acquire for the continuing operation of our offices.

The principles of our procurement policy will also be taken into account when specifying products and services on projects which are to be purchased by other parties in accordance with specifications issued by ourselves.
